2026–27 Academic Job Market

PhD Candidate in Accounting

Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland

Welcome!

I am on the 2026–27 academic job market, with an expected graduation date of May 2027.

My research examines how accounting information interacts with technology and market institutions to shape firm decisions in capital and labor markets. Using archival methods, textual analysis, and machine learning, I pursue two related lines of research. The first examines the role of accounting information in entrepreneurship and private capital, focusing on how it interacts with investors and new technologies to shape the financing and growth of young and private firms. The second lies at the intersection of accounting and labor economics, examining who firms hire, promote, and retain and what employees’ own disclosures and career decisions reveal about their employers.

My job market paper, Patient Capital, Impatient Reporting: How Accounting Standards Reach the Startup Economy, asks whether a standard aimed at public-firm reporting reaches the private startups that corporate venture capital investors back. It received the Best Paper Award at the 2026 Rutgers Accounting Doctoral Symposium.
